Ball Screw Torque Tester
The Ball
Screw Torque Tester measures ball screw nut torque for screws ranging
in length from 8 inches to 15 feet. The screw drive head is at the left
end of the machine with the tailstock shown just to the right of the drive
head. Torque Rings, which attach to the ball screw nut to prevent rotation
with the driven screw, are stored progressively by increasing size on
hooks in storage cupboards in the right half of the machine backsplash.
Adjustable industrial leveling feet are used as bases for the 14 legs
for even and level support. Machine frame is covered by sheet metal plates
for a clean appearance.

The
Computer Data Acquisition / Control System is placed at the left end
of the machine frame. The touch screen monitor located just above
the machine drive head shows the same display as the computer monitor
(not shown), but responds to operator input via touching screen displayed
push-button choices.
The test specimen
is mounted between the drive dog on the left and the tailstock to
the right.
